Finding the right beach spot in Lincolnshire
The beaches in Lincolnshire are well worth visiting. Most are long stretches of golden sands with good facilities for everyone to enjoy their day out.
There are quite a few beaches in the area ranging from small bays to vast expanses of wild and undeveloped beach great for dog walking or just sunbathing. It's not necessary to hang out your 'reserved' towel on these sands as there's so much room!
1. Cleethorpes
This area was a fishing village that became popular as a holiday resort in the 1800's. Now there is a well established town and a very big beach area for visitors to enjoy as it has a pier and a very entertaining promenade!
Apparently in 1956 a UFO was spotted off the coast at Cleethorpes and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] was also seen by radar at RAF Manby!
Cleethorpes actually sits on the Humber estuary. The [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] sea at Cleethorpes is actually the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] mouth of the Humber. This means that bathers are separated from the sea by several hundred yards of sand at low tide. It's an unspoilt beach of sand with a gentle slope into the sea making it ideal for bathers and small children. Parking is ample here and facilities good.
2. Skegness
Skegness is a big attraction on this coast line [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and has a lot of facilities [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and attractions for the whole family. The beaches here are very well kept with pram and wheelchair access, good parking, cafes, donkey rides, crazy golf and an outdoor pool!
Skegness is probably the most famous beach [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] spot in the UK so it's also the busiest! It's a blue flag beach with lots of different cafes and restaurants, lifeguards, loos, deckchairs for hire and huts/chalets to keep all your gear in. There is also a large car park and other parking available in the town.
Dogs are welcome but not in high season i.e. Summer!
3. Sutton on Sea
This award winning beach has an unhurried air and is a favourite with families as it [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] has a really wide, soft, sandy beach for sunbathing and swimming.
The colourful beach huts on the promenade are for rent and perfect for [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] storing all your beach essentials during your holiday. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] There's an outdoor pool, trampolines, cafes, loos, children's play area and the ancient remains of a [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] submerged forest!
4. Mablethorpe
Mablethorpe is another blue flag beach with great attractions nearby. This beach is huge and sandy and separated from the town by very large sand dunes! It's a short walk from the fun at [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Adventure world, the funfair and floral gardens that line the promenade with its array of places to eat or enjoy a drink. There's a train to take day trippers to the North [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] of the beach to save you the hike if you've a lot of gear with you.
5. Anderby
This is one of Lincolnshires quieter beaches and it's a good place to walk the dog or bird watch as well as sunbathing or picnicking. This beach boasts the UK's first 'cloud watching' platform which has seats designed specifically for the task!
